SOCI 230: Course Guide (Rodney): Home

Welcome

Welcome!

Welcome to the SOCI 230 course guide for Rodney Hunt's class. This page provides quick access to the sociology journals and books that will be useful in completing your assignments as well as tips on searching for articles in these journals.

Some Tips on Accessing Academic Journals

  1. To avoid paywalls, start on this guide or the library website, not Google.
  2. Know that there can be gaps in the date coverage of some journals. For example, JSTOR may not archive recent issues.
  3. When you change your keywords to do a new search, make sure you are still searching only in the selected journal(s), not the entire library. Click the back button in your browser and then try new keywords.
  4. If a journal link in this guide is broken, there are a couple of ways to search in a specific journal:

Pro tip: To search within all of the library journals in this guide, try this link, or go to Advanced Search on the library website and paste the text below into one of the boxes, then add your own keywords in the other boxes:

JN(“Work, Employment, & Society” OR “Labour” OR “Le Travail” OR “Capital & Class” OR “Journal of Labor Economics” OR “Industrial Relations” OR “Relations Industrielles” OR “Labor: Studies in Working-Class History of the Americas” OR “Globalizations” OR “International Journal of Sociology” OR “Social Forces” OR “Social Problems” OR “Sociological Perspectives” OR “Canadian Journal of Sociology” OR “Canadian Review of Sociology”)
